As it appears the multiple-billion dollar upgrade of US security systems has been pretty much wasted, it makes me wonder if there is ever an end in sight. While we routinely pour money down the drain, surely we, as a people, will have to realize sometime that the money the government wastes isn’t theirs – it is ours!
The current administration is so interested in looking good on television and providing a good sound bite that they quite simply can’t be bothered to actually do anything. Take, for instance, the case of illegal immigrants and the fact that they are almost never deported – even if they commit one or more crimes!
Tell me, please – what sort of a government is it that we have that is more interested in talking a good game, while actually accomplishing nothing? Does anyone actually feel safer flying now because of the government?
I do perhaps feel safer flying – but it’s because I trust most everyone else knows what can happen, and simply won’t let it happen. All those billions of dollars on machinery that doesn’t do the job, all those misspent hours spent on restaffing the nation’s airports with a government-run agency do absolutely nothing to allay my fears. In fact, probably just the opposite!
