Bloglines Toolkit 1.6.6

Though this has probably been the busiest week for releases that the Toolkit has seen in quite a while, I’m going to release another new version. This one does not contain any new functionality – none whatsoever. It does, however, include a new pointer to the automatic updater. If you’d like to know more, read on.

The problems with the downloading of the new version are fairly well documented, and the host that is in charge of the site where the download files reside is being decidedly unhelpful. After three days of no resolution, and to make matters worse, no response whatsoever, it’s just time to move on.

In case you’re wondering, I can get around it, and in fact, I have managed to do so – but since it’s renewal time, and I’m currently in the midst of a free trial since I upgraded plans, it’s the perfect time to get out while the getting is good, and that is exactly what I’m going to do. While I hate to release another version so quickly – and I really do with no good reason to do so – this one sets the URL for the update file to the new location, which hopefully will not change at any point in the near future.

If you don’t use the automatic update feature, you can safely ignore this update – but you won’t be notified when a new version is available, because the old location will go away soon (in fact, it already has). In that case, you’ll want to keep looking here for updates. If you do, go grab yourself a new copy and rest easy in the fact that there shouldn’t be any updates for a while. I hope.
